Miguel...yes send it via email and yes I remember GQ. I also remember that when I was a boot the memory association I used for remembering which side of the ship was port and which side was starboard was that starboard had a stressed "R" in its pronunciation, and so therefore it meant the right side, you know the lefty loosy, righty tighty type thing. Sal, I remember doing a lot of sweepers back then... I can never forget that....hat e mail can I send it?

Remember.. "General quarters General quarters", all hands man your battle stations, up forward starboard, down aft to port...general quarters.....

Sweepers sweepers man your brooms, sweep all ladderbacks and passageways now sweepers.

Wes, By the time I was leavining the ship, they had changed it.
"Revelie, revelie, all hands heave out and trice up, smoking lamp is lighted at authorized space, revelie.
Smoking was banned in berthing areas. Only the mess decks were you allowed to smoke(inside). Now in the Navy you can barely smoke outside. Fantail only.

When I was a boot..I memorized it by the number of letters.... left and port has 4
letters. right and starboard had more letters... it was kinda crazy but it worked. Now on how to make a double hitch knot.. dont know...

I kind of suspected smoking wasn't allowed on a ship anymore. Glad I quit 3 years ago. It was getting tough having to go outside everywhere to smoke. I guess I'm (socially acceptable) now.
