Hey Horrace,
Several years ago, I was with my school group (I'm a teacher) in Washington, DC. The tourguide was a wife of a Navy admiral. They volunteer to do this. Her last name was Shannahan, and if I recall correctly, she was his wife. He was attached at the time to the Pentagon. I checked on him on the internet after I found this website, and he is now retired and working for some "Think Tank." I still remember what a great captain he was.
By the way, I know you didn't ask but I also ran into Chief Bogstadt many years ago. I was in the reserves after leaving Cochrane and he was stationed at some reserve base up in Michigan. That was many years ago, so who knows now.

Ah, Bogstead....the Cochrane's answer to Miss Manners and Emily post and "Martha Raye's buddy". The only chief that was banned from eating in the chief's mess. Now, watching him eat was a memory!

I remember he always seemed to have some remains of every meal on the front of his shirt. You have to admit he was likable as hell though.

I was thinking that he would make a reunion complete. I don't know if I have the ***** to call him, though. Funny thing is, WHY NOT????b We've all been civilians for decades. What could be scary about calling him and telling him about a reunion of the ship he commanded. Maybe it's the VADM in his name. I really would like him there if possible. Horace, I wonder if he might have an e-mail address.
