I tried a couple of years ago to get some support in renaming another destroyer, Cochrane. Not much support then. I got a letter from the pentagon saying that there were more names than ships to give them to. Would anyone support this now for this new class of destroyer. I think Adm. Cochrane deserves the honor.

THERE ARE SOME DDG-51 CLASS SHIPS WITHOUT NAMES SO IT WOULD BE NICE IF ANOTHER DDG IS NAMED COCHRANE. THE DD-21 PROGRAM IS WAY OUT IN THE FUTURE AND MAY NOT BE BUILT. MY FIRST COMMAND WAS THE USS DEWEY DLG-14/DDG45 AND THE NEW DEWEY WILL BE DDG-105. ON THE LIST WAS SOME MORE SHIPS WITHOUT NAMES. THIS CLASS WILL BE A MIX OF DDG-51 NAD DD-21.
