ask your ole man who the 1st class deck ape was that had been in for 19 or so years when i came aboard . every time we sailed he was sick for the 1st 3 days and was just fine from then on . i also remember a young black snipe that got sick for the duration of every trip to sea . the last time he was aboard he ran off the gangplank as it was being raised and went awol . i heard he never went aboard a ship again . he either got a desk job or the boot . i don't remember which . i just remember he turned green and stayed that way till we tied up . probably the 2 hurricanes at the same time that we were in was the last straw for the poor sumbitch .
