Hi to all of crew of the cochrane. yes i remeber wene we crossed it was january 28 1979. it was not what we all called fun at that time.but now looking back it really was. Although I would like to cross once more just to get even.

Hi there Gary- as for getting to return the favor of all the fun inflicted on 'wogs, I was on my second ship (or aledged ship...Glover was a pretty sad sack of a ship... sorta a fleet shit can for zeros[pardon me Larry, "O's"- ya had to be in Brownsville for the first reunion to understand that one... that couldnt cut it! Anwhow, out of like 275 crew members, there were only 18 of us that were shellbacks, so "Wog Night" was kinda tough... and so few shellbacks made for a LONG day of the actual event! So as the saying goes, be carefull what ya ask for, ya might get it<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I did have the oppertunity to cross again too I was on board the USS Dixon heading for Diego Garcia, on wog night they found out I was a shellback because I wasn't doing things that all the others were doing and so a bunch of them got me down and I was yealling "I won't participate" and they believed me. That wasn't to smart on their part because I did participate but they did get me back in the end so sometimes it does backfire on a guy. Hey Gary I haven't seen ya in forever, Hay man I finally made it out of Camp Verde. I moved all the way to Cottonwood. Ain't that a laugh!!! GOODNIGHT ALL GOD BLESS RUSSELL SEAMAN

I can still picture the look on CWO2 Krauss's face when we drug him out of the Officers shower and took him to the fan tail. I can't remember if there were 1 or 2 pillows but there was a gallon of Molasses He made me pay for that the next day with the stocks and licks from the fire hose.

Hey there Tom, I can't recall how many pillows worth of feathers we dumped on poor, old Mr. Krauss. Only thing that I remember is how funny he looked after we got done with him. Looked like "Big Bird" from Sesame Street with all those feathers glued to his khakis. But he
managed to take it as all good fun. Which most of the officers that we
had onboard at the time, probably wouldn't have. But luckily, I was a HT and didn't have to work for him afterwards like you did. I'm sure he remembered the BTs and MMs that were involved, and found some way to get some payback.
