1. Log into the site. If you do not remember your user name or password, click the "forgot Login?" link below the login form. I may have assigned one to you if you were only listed on the old crew list. If so, you will need to retrieve bith your user name and password. If your email has changed, contact me and I will update your profile for you. If you were not a member of the old site, you will need to click "Register" on the login form to the left. The following instructions do not pertain to new registrations, only editing an existing profile after you successfully login.
2. Click on "edit your profile" in the users menu at the left.
3. You will see four tabs at the top of the profile. The default tab is "Portrait". Here you can add a picture of yourself if you wish. This is not mandatory.
4. Click on the "contact info" tab. Here you will need to make sure that the "first name", "last name", "email" and "username" fields are filled in. These are mandatory fields. You can fill in the other information as you wish. Hover your mouse over the icons at the right of the fields to see what they mean.
   
   NOTE: THE USERNAME CANNOT CONTAIN ANY SPACES. THE OLD SITE ALLOWED THIS BUT THIS ONE DOES NOT. IF YOUR OLD LOGIN NAME CONTAINED SPACES, YOU CAN LOGIN BUT CANNOT UPDATE YOUR PROFILE UNTIL YOU CHANGE THIS. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UPDATE THE PROFILE IF THERE ARE ANY SPACES OR DISALLOWED CHARACTERS. IF YOU GET AN ERROR WHILE SAVING, READ IT TO SEE WHAT YOU DID WRONG, MAKE CORRECTIONS AND PRESS UPDATE AGAIN.
   
5. Click the "additional info" tab and fill in any info that you wish. There are no mandatory fields under this tab.
6. Click the "Cochrane info" tab. Here you will need to select your relationship to the crew member (Select "crew member" if you were a member of the crew). This is mandatory but the rest of the info is not but should be filled out if you were a crew member. The rest of us want to know when you were onboard and where you worked.
7. Thats it! Click the "update" button at the bottom of your profile and it will be updated with your current info. Return there anytime that you want to add or change anything such as your email address. Welcome Aboard Shipmate!
8. To check if you have been added to the crew list, click the Crew List button on the top menu bar. Your info should be there now.

To add a photo, click on the "Gallery" link in the top menu. Then go to your user panel and click "new picture". Add a title and link to the file on your computer then click "upload"

Please send me a quick note when you upload pictures as I do not get notified when you upload  and I must authorize it before it is visable to others on the site.

My name is John Freeman. I was onboard the Cochrane from 09/83 to 11/85 home ported in Yokosuka, Japan. My highest rate was MM2 and I was the supervisor of number 2 engine room (EM02). I stood Top Watch underway and was the Top Watch member of the ECCET team. I was also on the USS Dixie AD-14 from 80 to 81,  USS Buchanan DDG-14 from 11/81 to 09/83. 

I started this site because I could not find one for the Cochrane  anywhere on the web. I thought that she deserved a site of her own and I wanted to find some old shipmates anyway. I have had a very good response  to the site and the crew list database is growing almost daily. I guess I can't quit now so here is another much needed update to the site. I have had many contributions to the site but need more. If you have any info or pictures on the USS Cochrane DDG-21 please contact me.
